This gun revolutionized assault weapon design. The weapon fires a caseless cartridge consisting of a block of propellant with a bullet buried inside. The resultant weight and space savings allow this weapon to have a very high magazine capacity. While the 4.7mm caseless rounds are moderately rare, the G11 is one of the best SMGs in ''Fallout 2''. |

This is an overview article, listing content appearing in multiple games. |
An assault rifle is a selective fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. Assault rifles are the standard infantry weapons in most modern armies. Assault rifles are categorized in between light machine guns, which are intended more for sustained automatic fire in a light support role, and submachine guns, which fire a pistol cartridge rather than a rifle cartridge.
Models
AK-112 assault rifle
The AK-112 was an old military model of supposedly Soviet origin that was in service during the early 21st century. Chambered for 5mm ammunition, it utilizes a 24-round magazine and is capable of firing single-shot or in bursts. This weapon was eventually considered aged and was scheduled to be replaced just prior to the Great War.
- For the modded version of AK-112 assault rifle found in Fallout 2, see: Assault rifle (Exp. Mag.).
H&K G11
This gun revolutionized assault weapon design. The weapon fires a caseless cartridge consisting of a block of propellant with a bullet buried inside. The resultant weight and space savings allow this weapon to have a very high magazine capacity. While the 4.7mm caseless rounds are moderately rare, the G11 is one of the best SMGs in Fallout 2.
H&K G11E
A variant of the H&K G11, the E variant is equipped with a low-light scope and a suppressor. It also fires more rounds in a burst and deals more damage with each individual round.
R91 assault rifle
The R Series of combat assault rifles was used reliably following the discontinuation of the M Series in the early 21st century. The R series, produced by civilian manufacturer Stent Security Solutions, was made in many models and variations. The variation most common to the DC Wasteland is the R91 full-auto urban assault rifle.
This rifle was issued in the United States Armed Forces during the urban pacification operations and combat. Since the National Guard had been fully deployed around the DC area during the time of the war, the R91 is readily available for those willing to search. Although nearly two centuries of scavenging has reduced the numbers of working units, the R91 remains a favorite of slavers, raiders, and mercenaries. This rifle can often be obtained from legitimate traders and arms dealers.

Chinese T-93 assault rifle
The T-93[1] was designed and manufactured by Chinese industrial conglomerate Norinco for the People's Liberation Army during the Resource Wars, for the purpose of equipping the Chinese infiltrators and American fifth-columnists. To this end, it was chambered for the abundant NATO 5.56mm round. This model of Assault Rifle does slightly more damage than its American made counterpart.
Thousands of these weapons were smuggled into the US for use by Chinese operatives and sympathizers on the East Coast, and many remain functional even two hundred years after the Great War. These rifles are also proven to be ready for manufacturing in post-war conditions.
- For the unique Chinese assault rifle found in Fallout 3, see: Xuanlong assault rifle.
M199 assault rifle
Perhaps the most well-recognized weapon in the pre-War U.S. Military arsenal, the M199 earned its nickname "The Backtalker" from the unusual report the firing mechanism makes as it ejects a spent shell. Firing standard 5.56mm rounds, the M199 was the official infantry weapon of the U.S. Army.
Unnamed Assault carbine
This 5mm assault carbine sports a very compact size compared to the R91, which was the United States' primary combat rifle.
