“You handle animals really well when they are dead and gain a damage bonus against the living ones.”— In-game description
Animal Control is a challenge and perk in Fallout: New Vegas.
Challenge requirements[]
This perk is rewarded upon completing each rank of the "Animal Control" kill challenge:
- Rank 1: Kill 50 animals
- Rank 2: Kill 100 animals
- Rank 3: Kill 150 animals
Effects[]
Gaining this perk grants a permanent damage bonus against mutated animals, increased with each rank completed:
- +3% damage against animals
- +6% damage against animals
- +10% damage against animals
Affected creatures[]
Mutated animals include:
Notes[]
- Like most kill challenges, progress is tracked cumulatively, i.e. once Rank 1 is achieved, one only has to kill another 50 animals to reach Rank 2, and so on with Rank 3.
- Many bighorner herds, with both adults and calfs, tend to spawn in the flatlands south-southeast of Novac and north of Broc flower cave.
- Kills made by a companion do not count towards kills needed to earn this perk.
Bugs[]
- Appears to be fixed as of patch 1.2.0.31x.
Perk progress freezes at 20/50 animals.[verified]
- When the 3rd rank of this perk is achieved, the pop-up message may give a ridiculous number (such as 3940517670000000000...) as the perk rank instead of 3.[verified]
