“Well going by the number, I-I'd say this is from Vault 63. My buddy told me that it's located in the Ash Heap. I can mark it on your map. If you do make your way down there. Stay safe; I heard it's overrun with Mole Miners. And, the Ash Heap itself is barely breathable without a mask, and one wrong step might charcoal roast your foot. That aside, there's been a crazy storm brewing down that way. Doubt it's related, but I think I'll steer clear myself all the same.”
Alyssa is a member of the Settlers from Foundation. She works as a scavenger and trader, exploring Appalachia to find supplies (either from the wastes or from trade caravans) that Foundation requires.
Following the mysterious formation of the Storm in Shenandoah National Park and the appearance of Vault 63's door in the Forest, Alyssa is trying to investigate the remains of the Vault door. She does not know much about the Vault, but has heard from a friend that it is located in the Ash Heap. She does not know what might have caused the Vault to explode, but some of her theories include a bomb planted by the Brotherhood of Steel, or an attack by mole miners. She is friendly enough about other people investigating her salvage site, and advises others who intend to investigate the Vault to be wary of the toxic conditions and other dangers of the Ash Heap.
Interactions with the player character[]
Interactions overview[]
Interactions
This character ignores combat and cannot be damaged.
An Unlikely Invitation: Alyssa is found investigating the Vault 63 door. She tells the Vault Dwellers about Vault 63's location -- as much as she knows of it, at least.
Other interactions[]
Throughout the Vault 63 questline, the player can return to Alyssa and update her on what they have discovered in Skyline Valley.
After encountering the Lost in Vault 63 during Into Lands Unknown,[verification needed] Alyssa can be told to "spread the word" about the new ghouls, and will be slightly shocked to hear about yet another threat in Appalachia.
At some point after entering Skyline Valley, Alyssa can be told that the Vault door's appearance is related to the Storm, and will be somewhat annoyed at having guessed incorrectly.
After entering Vault 63 during The Calm Before,[verification needed] Alyssa can be told that Vault 63 was actually built underneath Shenandoah National Park and not in the Ash Heap as she believed. Alyssa will be shocked that (in her view) Vault-Tec faked building a Vault for the people of Lewisburg and Welch, and will express sympathy for them.
After asking James Oberlin about the weather effects on the Vault (first available after meeting him in The Calm Before),[verification needed] Alyssa can be told the true reason for the Vault door appearing (a pressure build-up). She will be surprised that the door could explode like a "cork from a champagne bottle" and wonder what Vault-Tec was doing to cause such a thing to happen.
