I don't see why not. Between Doctor Li and your dad, we've got the best minds on the job. They can do just about anything. Yeah, I think we'll be up and running in no time.

Alex Dargon is a botanist, and member of Doctor Madison Li's science team in Fallout 3. He is found at Project Purity after it's restored, then at The Citadel after The Waters of Life, and back at the purifier in the Fallout 3 add-on Broken Steel.

Background[]

Alex grew up in Rivet City and was always interested in what the scientists were doing there. Doctor Madison Li took him under her tutelage, and taught him everything he knows.[1] Alex is the team's botanist whose specialty is in growing naturally occurring foodstuffs. Friendly and well-liked, if overzealous, he was entrusted with overseeing elements of Project Purity, and is in awe of his mentor, Doctor Li.[Non-game 1]

After James returns to his former colleagues, almost twenty years after abandoning it and fleeing to Vault 101, Alex and Daniel Agincourt get the call to return from the field.[1] He cheerfully follows Doctor Li's return to the project and is confident that they will have it up and running soon.[2] He helps the team and helps guide the Lone Wanderer to the flood control pumps, warning them to be careful of the radioactive water seeping in from the Tidal Basin and to watch out for loose power wires.[3][4][5]

His initial high spirits turn to fear and panic[6][7] as the Enclave capture the facility. Initially confused at what is occurring,[8] he and the rest of the team make their escape through the Taft Tunnel under the protection of the Lone Wanderer.[9] During the escape. his colleague Garza's heart condition worsens, having left his medicine behind in the rush. Scared and panicking, he suggests that they leave him behind in the flight.[10]

Provided that he survives the escape and makes it to the opposite side of the Potomac River, he and the others make their way to The Citadel (he is subsequently impressed by the Brotherhood's set up[11]) where they join Lyons' Brotherhood's efforts at restoring the project. After the Brotherhood's successful capture and restarting of the project, Dr. Li finally has enough, and leaves to travel to the Commonwealth to start her life anew. Alex, after having stuck by Dr. Li for years is saddened that she left, but hopes that she finds what she's looking for.[12]

Two weeks after the battle, he can be found continuing his work at the project. Although the Brotherhood scribes are not the friendliest people he's worked with, he's been doing what he can to get along with them.[13]

Alex Dargon: "Who, me? Oh, nothing special. I grew up in Rivet City, and was always interested in what the scientists were doing there. Doctor Li took me under her wing, and taught me everything I know. Dan and I were out in the field when we got the call to come back."

  4. The Lone Wanderer: "Anything I should know about this place?"
Alex Dargon: "I'd steer clear of the water if I were you. It's seeping in from the Tidal Basin, which means it's radioactive. If that's not bad enough, if there are any loose wires as the power comes back on... you might get a bit of a jolt. Know what I mean?"

  12. The Lone Wanderer: "Where's Doctor Li?"
Alex Dargon: "Oh. Well, she... After what happened to you when the purifier started, I think she just kind of had enough. It was really hard on her, you know? First losing your dad, and then the Enclave, and then the Brotherhood taking over here. It was really just too much for her. So I guess she packed up a few things and headed off north, towards the Commonwealth. Rumor has it there's a scientific community up there. I sure hope she finds what she's looking for."
    (Alex Dargon's dialogue)
  13. The Lone Wanderer: "What are you doing here?"
Alex Dargon: "Me? Well, I figured after all the work we already put into this place, we could help the Brotherhood keep things running smoothly. It's worked out pretty well so far, I think. They're not necessarily the friendliest bunch, but I've been doing what I can to get along with them."
    (Alex Dargon's dialogue)
