"A Kiss to Build a Dream On" is a song written by Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby and Oscar Hammerstein II, and performed by Louis Armstrong that served as the intro music for Fallout 2.

Background[]

The song was originally written by Kalmar and Ruby as "Moonlight on the Meadow" in 1935 and intended to be used in the Marx Brothers movie A Night at the Opera. In 1951, Hammerstein adapted the song as " A Kiss to Build a Dream On", to be performed by Louis Armstrong.

Other artists known from the Fallout series who have performed this song include Bing Crosby and Vera Lynn.

Lyrics[]

Give me a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A kiss to build a dream on

Give me a kiss before you leave me
And my imagination will feed my hungry heart
Leave me one thing before we part
A kiss to build a dream on

When I'm alone with my fancies...I'll be with you
Weaving romances...making believe they're true

Give me your lips for just a moment
And my imagination will make that moment live

Give me what you alone can give
A kiss to build a dream on

When I'm alone with my fancies, I'll be with you
Weaving romances, making believe they're true

Give me your lips for just a moment
And my imagination will make that moment live
Give me what you alone can give
A kiss to build a dream on

A different version of the song, from Armstrong's 1964 album Hello, Dolly!, also plays in the Minecraft: Fallout Mash-Up; it can be heard below.
