Behind the scenes
This firearm is the Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer selective-fire magazine-fed variant of the Mauser C96, nicknamed the "Broomhandle" because of its grip design. The Mauser pistol was originally manufactured in 7.63mm. China later began producing its own copies, labeled Shanxi Type 17 (As well as Type 80, which is China's copy of the M712 selective-fire variant, albeit in an other caliber) which were chambered for .45 and 9mm.
