“A Colt 6520 10mm autoloading pistol. Each pull of the trigger will automatically reload the firearm until the magazine is empty. Single shot only, using the powerful 10mm round.”— Fallout and Fallout 2 description
The Colt 6520 10mm pistol is a small gun in Fallout and Fallout 2.

Appearances[]
The Colt 6520 10mm pistol appears in Fallout and Fallout 2.
Behind the scenes[]
- The 10mm pistol's visual appearance is taken directly from the comic book Hard Boiled. Geofrey Darrow, the artist for Hard Boiled, would later go to illustrate the cover art for All Roads, which was released in conjunction with Fallout: New Vegas.
- The 10mm pistol was originally envisioned as an automatic revolver, but due to a miscommunication between the artists and writers its item description refers to its loading system as using a magazine rather than a cylinder. Subsequent games have consistently retained this error and portrayed the weapon as magazine-loaded; though Chris Taylor wanted to rectify it at some point, this correction never materialized.[Non-game 2]
- Handguns based on the 10mm from Fallout and Fallout 2 are featured in the TV series. Its functionality is closer to a revolver than an automatic pistol with 12 rounds.

- ↑ Vault Dweller's Survival Guide p.5-15: "This is your basic ranged weapon. The 10mm round packs a goodly punch, and the Colt pistol is a fine example of workmanship and quality. It is a single shot weapon only, meaning that every time you pull the trigger, you will fire one, and only one, round of ammunition. The 6520 has no problem feeding hollowpoint ammunition for small game hunting, or armor piercing rounds for larger, bipedal game."
- ↑ Question: "The 10mm pistol, although being an automatic, has a revolving chamber, and the description even says "Each pull of the trigger will automatically reload the firearm until the magazine is empty." Why the discrepancy? Miscommunication between the artists and the designers?"
Chris Taylor: "The longer answer: Miscommunication. I think the text was written before the art was done, or the art was redone and the text wasn't updated (it's a little fuzzy). Should be '...until the cylinder is empty.' But I'd probably want to rewrite the description completely."
