The Smith & Wesson M29 speed loader is a weapon upgrade in Fallout 2.
Background[edit | edit source]
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a powerful, six-shot, double-action revolver manufactured by the U.S. company Smith & Wesson since 1955. Centuries later, copies of it can still be found in the wastes.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
It is the only weapon in the game that can be reloaded for 1 AP instead of the usual 2 and boasts an improved range of 20 hexes.
It is one of the most powerful single-shot weapons in the early game due to its low AP cost and the favorable modifiers of its ammunition. The .44 JHP round doubles the damage of each bullet while only adding 20 percentage points to the target's Damage Resistance, which multiplies the weapon's damage on unarmored foes by 1.6.
Location[edit | edit source]
- Skeeter in Gecko and Eldridge in the New Reno Arms can attach a speed loader to a .44 Magnum for $2000.
- Valerie in Vault City will do it for $800, which can be reduced to $650 with a CH or Barter check.
- Algernon in the basement of the New Reno Arms can do the upgrading procedure for free.
Notes[edit | edit source]
This weapon is incredibly cheap for its combat value. At only $600, it is the second-cheapest pistol in the game.
