Une pincée de prévention est une quête principale dans Fallout 76.
Synopsis
Afin de survivre à la Contagion calcinée qui s'est répandue à travers les êtres vivants des Appalaches, les Samaritains tentèrent, quelques années auparavant, de mettre au point un vaccin. Le projet n'a pas réussi à éviter leur disparition, mais peut-être que le Dr Hudson a laissé derrière elle assez de données afin de sauver les résidents de l'Abri 76 ?

Procédure détaillée
Après avoir complété la quête Départ ultime, le prochain arrêt se situe au Centre médical AVR, à Charleston. Le laboratoire du Dr Hudson se trouve au coin sud-ouest de l'établissement, dans le sous-sol (accessible soit via le trou dans le sol, dans la cafétéria, soit en utilisant les escaliers à côté de la sortie pour la rue). Utiliser le terminal afin d'en apprendre un peu plus sur l'histoire et qu'elle a presque terminé ses recherches - presque. Le logiciel automatique créé par le bon docteur est paramétré pour créer automatiquement un vaccin à partir de l'ADN de rataupes, goules sauvages, et de loups.
Le personnage joueur doit donc récupérer ces ingrédients manquants, ainsi qu'un Fusible Type T
- The players need to collect that and a T-type fuse. The fuse can be found at Greg's Mine Supply, in the sealed-off store, in the storage room. Access can be gained by entering the basement of the building on the northern side of the road, then using the tunnel to enter the basement of the shop.
- Each of the animals is located in the wilderness around Charleston: Mole rats are in the river bed, west of the Charleston Trainyard, feral ghouls are found all over Charleston, mostly in the eastern parts and around the Capitol Building, while wolves are up the hill southeast of Charleston, up towards The Ash Heap.
- Once the player has all four ingredients, they just need to get back to the AVR Medical Center and Hudson's lab, place the replacement fuse in the fuse box under the stairs, put the blood samples in the centrifuge by the AVR medical terminal, analyze them, then use the Sympto-Matic to inoculate themselves. Claire Hudson's recording will play, directing the player to the Fire Breathers of the Charleston Fire Department - or what's left of them.

The title is a reference to the famous Benjamin Franklin axiom that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," meaning that taking small steps to prevent a major problem is easier than dealing with the problem itself.
Bugs
The map marker for the Type-T fuse may focus on an underground tunnel instead of the item. The item can be found in an explosives crate in the eastern storage room of Greg's Mine Supply.
