Power armor frames are cannon you could probably assume that the first few sets if power armor used light sets of frames only being in knee, ankle and elbow joints. To strengthen only the more places of movement. Maybe as models were upgraded, entire frames were made to power every single joint of the body which in turn provide strength to even fingers to do some MHA Deku ahh finger flick.
