3, NV and 4 are all kinda amazing in their own separate way. They’re all very different from eachother yet in the same universe. Fo4 is best in terms of map design and combat but lacks in the roleplaying spectrum. I definitely miss being able to listen to every single dialogue option possible from each character, and there being more than 4. But in fo4 most of the time the dialogue is more of a choice of how you want to respond than it is finding out information from a character. Fo3 is more about exploring the world on your own rather than letting quests take you there, especially since there are only like 27 quests in the base game. Still an amazing and bleak atmosphere. And then FNV, my favorite (even though less played than fo4) just has the best rpg element, best characters, most complex and interesting story, and most believable world. It’s kind of ironic how in the fallout universe the western united states has mostly reestablished order and old world ideals yet the east coast remains mostly uncivilized except for small independent settlements.
I wouldn’t say that there are really many jumpscares in the game except for maybe random events like an enemy sneaking up on you and hitting you from behind. Definitely stay away from the museum of witchcraft though and the dunwich borers quarry, those locations do have scripted jump scares that I can think of. But yeah I can see how feral ghouls might be scary, especially with how fast they run at you and their ability to dodge bullets. It can be especially freaky when they attack you from behind. Not gonna lie though ghouls are too common an enemy in fo4 for you to completely avoid them. Most locations you have to clear will either have raiders, super mutants, or ghouls and then sometimes it’ll be animals, robots, or gunners but those are less common than the other 3. But I think fo4 is too good of a game for you to not play it because of this. I always play 90% of this game in sneak mode, constantly hitting the VATS button to try and spot enemies before they spot me so that I can plan the best way to take them out. This might be useful for ghouls because they tend to hide under stuff and then crawl out once you get close. VATS will *usually* detect them while they’re in this state but not always. If it doesn’t you can hear them as they crawl out, and hopefully gun them down before they have a chance to run at you. Hope this helps!
I guess part of why I do everything in sneak is to prevent enemy ambushes, now that I think of it I have gotten pretty scared when getting jumped by a ghoul or deathclaw that I didn’t see approaching me
A prewar game would be interesting but if they ever did that it’d have to be a spinoff. I’ve always thought it would be interesting if we had a wartime fps that is an RPG, made by bethesda. Like obviously we have call of duty and plenty of games set during a war but itd be cool if we had a bethesda open world rpg set either during a real life war like ww2 or maybe set in the fallout universe’s war with china.
I said BOS; yes they are about order but their tendencies to achieve their goals through brutality and violence is, in a way, chaotic. Their intentions can be interpreted as “good” even though a bit ignorant. For example, they want to eliminate all synths because they perceive them as a major threat to humanity but imo synths are so humanlike that this desire is at the cost of morality even though the BoS fails to see it that way. They believe they are doing the right thing, just as any of the other factions. It’s really up to you to decide who is right but despite their ignorance I think they’re still “good” at heart yet very chaotic with their methods.
Well according to science, a nuclear winter would be imminent as a result of numerous nuclear detonations around the world. That would come first, and I’d imagine desertification would occur over time. I think if nuclear war did happen to us we’d be far more likely to go completely extinct rather than there being enough survivors to last us a further 200 years like in Fallout unless enough people actually took shelter in underground vaults.
