@Saxhleel12 Actually that's what makes it fair in comparison to the Chosen One (took down Frank Horrigan), Lone Wanderer (Alien Tech maybe even a Giant Death Laser), Courier (Cyborg with Big MT tech that has taken down the likes of Lanius and could also have a Giant Death Laser) and the Sole Survivor (US Military training who's feats are the utter destruction of the advanced Institute and it's killing machines and/or the EC BOS and is the Overboss of Nuka-World so has a well-equipped Raider Army).
Music, A few of the new Power Armors, At least currently more stable than Fallout 4, The setting isn't bad.
I can see either or. They have to establish where is Arthur Maxson. They have to establish what's up with these Clerics. They have to establish if Danse was killed or not. They'd have to establish if the Railroad is still a thing or not.
But I like the Minutemen more and want to see other factions grow in power as well.
Elder Cleric Quintus is his name.
Plot twist Mr. House had a failsafe in the place of his death that Yes Man would reprogram themselves into a copy of him making himself way more assertive thus retaking control as the House Always Wins. Then the NCR did exactly what General Oliver promised the Courier in the Independent ending the leadership sent many troops to attack New Vegas then a bloody prolonged conflict occurred which was ended when Hank nuked Shady Sands causing the NCR to tactically retreat.
The Courier went to Big MT just thinking to themselves yeah no I'm going to go hang out with the flirty light switch and genocidal toaster instead. Hank is going to Mr. House 2.0. who's going to be a little crazy as faulty programming caused him to be a mixture of Yes Man and Mr. House.
Seriously though it's not going to be the Legion. NCR would be a bit redundant given their status in the show unless New Vegas is supposed to be their new capital and core region. It looks like it'll be Mr. House or Yes Man/Independent going by the ending shot and cinematic...But looks can be deceiving.
Haven't played 76 so can't rate those
@Saxhleel12 I didn't I don't know why you're arguing that point in the first place. Though my point is that all leaderships claim that as a goal...They however don't all actually implement such and the claim can be of dubious merit given it could solely mean the preservation of the Brotherhood or be used as an excuse for aggression. Though we've only seen that on the West Coast (and Outcasts).
The point is they're not the same. Lyons isn't Maxson. Maxson has in fact done things Lyons would never do such as make peace with the Outcasts and West Coast Chapters, Explore and take over other parts of the Wastes, Actively want and engage in a new conflict against a tougher enemy, Ask for tribute for protection.
"They each tried doing the most they could with what they had."
That's literally what every single character in the series does BOS and Non-BOS.
@Saxhleel12 Elder Lyons never had his forces outside of the Capital Wasteland unless you count the battle at Adams Air Force Base. Maxson is literally taking them into another region of the Wasteland into hostile territory. The rest is a pretty low bar to set for similarities literally ALL of the BOS leaderships have tried to hunt down and exterminate threats to Humans. The West Coast BOS used both the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One to defeat the Master's Army and Enclave...The tradition is to hire or manipulate or recruit outsiders.
I literally gave you two actions in how they're different. Arthur reestablished talking and gaining approval of command back West and recruited the Outcasts back into the EC Chapter, While Lyons disagreed with command back West broke off contact and is the direct cause of the schism that created the Outcasts. One is an Unifier the other is a Dissident that causes division.
Also sure you can make the claim that the BOS has always had the supposed goal to help humanity...But it's made pretty clear the differences between the chapters that humanity can be limited to the Brotherhood solely or to an end justifies the means mentality. Elder Lyons being an altruist that sacrifices his own men to preserve outsiders lives is indeed an Unorthodox leadership in the BOS. Maxson compromises by having tribute for protection and still having the main priority of preserving tech from the hands of others he's not that much of an altruist more of a pragmatist.
@Saxhleel12 One was at war with the Outcasts the other has them join the ranks, One broke off contact with the Elders out West while the other reestablished communication and got approval, One lost the respect of his men the other has a cult of personality, One left the Pitt and it's people to die because it was too much trouble while the other goes out of their way to involve themselves into a conflict with one of the most technologically advanced factions in the Wastes hundreds of miles outside of their home territory.
There's more than just personality here but actual philosophy and methodology. Arthur himself is partially inspired by Lyon's to "help" and "protect" the peoples of the Wastes after the defeat of the Enclave and Project Purity successes. To trust in outsiders after the Lone Wanderer proved they can be effective recruits and soldiers and agents. But make no mistake that he's not Owyn he doesn't have his flaws or his pros he has his own.
@Saxhleel12 While it might be the same Chapter it's two different leaderships with altered philosophies and goals. Maxson's Eastern Division is a merger of the West, Lyons and Outcasts beliefs and practices. While Lyon's is so radically philosophically different from every single other BOS faction they're hardly a BOS faction in anything but name.
@EnclaveCalifornia Perhaps try the Chicago Detachment? Or see if Navarro is still active and looking for recruits? I know other side of the Wastes there...But you got legs.
@Kvile2000 Pitiful excuses for them literally murdering innocents. Directly and Indirectly. The Railroad within Fallout 4 cause more harm than good that's a fact...You can't see that well that's on you. But morally you can't say they're saints or even good that's wrong no matter what.
@Kvile2000 Okay that's not how it works...But sure go with that. But please try to morally explain...Using a Nuclear Reactor to explode half of Boston and potentially mass murder the people within the Institute (just because the Minutemen and BOS do it doesn't morally justify any of them), Wiping the Synths brains and giving them a new identity...Two problems arise from that. First the Synths can become like the Libertalia Raider Leader killing innocents so he could live free they've let others die kinda showing the flaw in fighting for these killing machines freedom no matter what. Second let's actually take a Synth's perspective of DiMA that he considers that murder given if you overwrite someone's entire mind you're killing what makes them well them...I wholeheartedly agree. Do I need to mention blowing up the Prydwen that has children on board?
The Railroad aren't good guys they've murdered innocents from Human Children to Synths to Innocent Bystanders because they choose to believe in freedom over safety/don't stop the threats they caused/put Synth lives ahead of Human lives. Also the fact that them blowing up the Institute ensures the Synths are now an endangered species given they can't reproduce their numbers in the long term the Railroad has committed genocide against those they wished to save.
Philosophically they're a faction dedicated to freeing who they consider people from tyranny and have the resources to help others...Yet they don't only the Synths of the Institute. That IS morally corrupt given they could in fact help Human Slaves and yet choose not to...They may not be covering their hands in blood but they're not washing them either here.
They are corrupt in deeds, goals and intentions. Calling yourself the good guys and fighting bad guys isn't enough your actions DO matter and the consequences of them if we're going to debate morality and ethics.
@EnclaveCalifornia You're an Enclave member why would you get insulted for being what you are? Like you should consider yourself a Proud Speciesist and want to exterminate all the dirty Non-Humans. But anyways to answer your question no because that's a preference like for example sexual attraction towards this and that ethnicity but not others...If that's racist then it's an acceptable kind. That is the case unless you inherently believe that one of the species is inferior to the other. But anyways that's not the point it's instead towards Sapient living beings like Mutants, Ghouls, Synths ones that can think and/or feel like us or talk...Not common animals like cats and dogs. If you kill them you're not killing a dog or cat or simple animal you're killing a person clear cut difference should be noted there.
Genocide and Bigotry are never depicted as something good. They'll always be depicted as something bad because they are, So any faction that seeks these things are leaning towards the evil side of the scale. Regardless of Humanity's interactions with the other species that doesn't justify anything Humanity isn't inherently benevolent or right especially in the Wasteland they created. Plus it ain't all of them a majority of Super Mutants are hostile yes...Still doesn't justify killing them all simply most. Synths are as much victims as they're weapons. Non-Feral Ghouls are just Humans with less or more wrinkled skin whatever applies to them should logically be applied to any Human.
@EnclaveCalifornia Both morally corrupt. Railroad let's only save robots fuck all the Humans in need you know like the hundreds to thousands of Slaves of Raiders from Nuka-World, the Pitt, Legion etc. BOS has murdered innocents because they had a shiny piece of tech they wanted, Maxson's Brotherhood uses a nuclear explosion to end their enemies learning nothing from the morals of their Founder the Real Maxson in fact spitting on his grave, Believing in extreme racism/speciesism wanting to genocide all Non-Humans, Their logical fallacies make them into High-Tech Raiders with the same supremacist views as the Bad Guys they've taken out simply to replace.
Don't even get me started on the NCR.
Rule No.1 Trust not one single soul in the Wastes at their word. Especially if they're proclaiming they're the good guys that seek nothing but to help people...Every single time that means they're either corrupt or evil in one horrendous form or another. Every single time.
You have to see their actions to understand what they really are and intend for others...The first act we see in Fallout 3 that the Enclave commit is murdering one of our Dad's friends and trying to forcefully occupy the clean source of water to extort/kill others. Clear cut villains.
@Wytchfynder No when I said insane I didn't mean just going Feral I meant like how other Humans go insane how anyone can go insane in the Wasteland. Also Smoothskin is still a label used to disassociate and proclaim separation from others based on something "racial" whether it's a term used to insult or not is irrelevant. The point there is Ghouls have in fact done terrible things too look at the Tenpenny Tower incident if you support them. The point is Ghouls are portrayed as no different from Humans in a philosophical or moral sense. Also I didn't say all Ghouls I simply stated that storylines have had Ghouls commit their own crimes against regular Humans which would naturally breed hatred and resentment. Hatred towards them doesn't come out of nowhere or considered inherently wrong within the setting. Nor is the Ghouls Hatred or Disposition towards regular Humans either.
If Racism is a major theme in Fallout...It's telling us that yes both sides are wrong and shitty doesn't matter who started it or why. That's a terrible perspective to portray.
I liked the environment of Point Lookout that's about it. Mothership Zeta has Aliens and cool new weapons plus interesting characters if a bit cliché, Broken Steel continues the game and brings with it badass Power Armor and Weapons, Operation: Anchorage is fun and did I mention badass Power Armor and Weapons? So yeah the Pitt just a great setting and story and characters and yeah morality choices that truly tell you that you're in a Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland where good and evil aren't black and white or even mutually exclusive they're married with children.
@Knife Maker It's not my law it's not even my brand of justice it's just how the Wasteland works. You think it moral and righteous to just spare those lives and walk away? They'll just murder, steal or rape the next person they meet. But anyways it's not about player choice it's not even about morality it's about survival and the fact that the Wasteland exists within an Anarchic state of existence.
Like I said cool mod and roleplay...But it wouldn't be realistic to the Post-Apocalyptic setting and Humanity is by it's nature self-destructive/depraved and cruel depiction of the Fallout series. It's an Idealist Utopic vision that takes away the themes and values the Fallout series intends to portray. I could see it fitting within the confines of California within the NCR territory but everywhere else most certainly not. Society in the Wasteland just hasn't evolved to believe all lives are sacred or that people can atone nor if they can't create a system of law that doesn't resort to killing.
But honestly I was hoping you could explain to me why you believe Maxon and/or the Brotherhood is sexist/misogynistic in your eyes despite all evidence to the contrary.
@Knife Maker Look I fucking personally despise Arthur Maxson for being a Human Supremist and a Fascist or at least overly militaristic focused...But HOW is he a misogynist? One of his commanding officers is a woman and there's no mistreatment of women in the Brotherhood, They can be any rank from Head Scribe to Elder to Assassin, Given intel that is of vital importance to the Brotherhood, Either half or more of the entirety of their armed and scientific forces are Women in ALL incarnations in every single Chapter!
So help me if you're saying they're sexist/misogynistic because they still call it the Brotherhood. That's the founding god damned name they're not going to change it and it was named that back when US Military Male Soldiers were in charge while basing it on Knightly legends of fellowship.
"My endings involve nonlethal combat- No Raiders, Gunners, or Supermutants die at my or my companions hands (I use the Knockout Framework and related mods by Seb263). To free Nick Valentine, no one has to die in Vault 114."
Cool roleplay and gameplay...However highly problematic for a Wasteland setting that sort of idealism to save/spare everyone would get you killed in a week and against actual evil opponents that will never stop murdering, raping and stealing it's pointless...What will Diamond City jail them? If you were in the NCR that'd be another story but literally anywhere else in the Wastes if you don't kill you'll be the one killed no if's or but's. Though reforming factions is possible and should've been from the start that's another matter you can logically change policies and leaderships.
