I actually get more specific with it. Like I wouldn't eat fossilized meat, but a snack cake? Sure. There's not many deserts available anymore.

I do generally avoid it more in New Vegas, where fresh food is more available.

And no, I don't consider ghoulified dog jerky a "fresh" food.

I always play a sniper. Never made sense to me why people would wander out to get shot at when you can simply kill everyone before they see you.

The extra crit damage basically one shots everything in the game.

No. I don't think Bethesda would know what to do with one even if they added it. We already have Russians, but it's just a gimmick for the accents, and a Chinese ghoul, but that's not really taken as an opportunity to explore anything. Just a fetch quest.

Ramblelime and Warocracy both cover overhaul mods in depth.

I like them because I basically know all the official content to the point watching playthroughs or lore recaps doesn't do anything for me, so it's a good way to experience fresh Fallout content.

I don't think you have to complete the game first to destory then as the Minutemen. It's been a while, but Minutemen quests are typically just "have the requisite strength and anger the other faction."

Makes for a boring questline since there's no real conflict. You have to supply it yourself.

Idk why people hate the Railroad so much. They're nowhere near the worst written faction just in Fallout 4. Cool aesthetic, interesting MO, yeah, their goals are limited, but that's what makes them non-generic. As opposed to the Minutemen who are basically perfect but in a way that's non-compelling.

Responders are just the most generic, bland faction idea I've ever heard. Stupid retexture of the Minutemen but with even less personality in a game where factions don't make sense to begin with. Literally just box ticking of "we need multiple factions because everyone liked New Vegas." And then the factions aren't even seperate options.

Where does his vision or immortality come into play? His specific vision of consumerism and dominance through finance? His love of Vegas? None of that fits with the Enclave escape plan.

He probably found them too militaristic and unambitious. He had an entirely different prediction of the post war world and its potential, so he wanted to be alive to operate within it.

Caesar's idea is basically to use his tribal army to conquer the NCR. I don't think he's too concerned with New Mexico and "the East". They'll inevitably be a backwater in his final empire.

But the ending slides don't mention him going beyond Mojave Outpost. I think his health or heavy losses or maybe just waiting for an opportune moment will probably stall any further march west until his death, where a new leader won't care.

Lanius is a tribal at heart. He doesn't see anything special about California or Vegas. Unless challenged by the NCR, he probably won't bother pushing beyond the Mojave Outpost.

So yeah. I think both Legion and NCR will be fine leaving the borders as they stand when the Mojave is finished.

I don't think they'll ever make New Vegas 2 in a literal sense, but a Fallout spin-off set in the West and continuing the interconnected 1-2-NV narratives is looking pretty likely to me.

With Starfield delayed and TES 6 after that, it will be a long time until Fallout 5 proper, so I could definitely see Microsoft wanting to do something with Fallout and turning to another studio to get it done.

Character Backstories

What backstories have you used in New Vegas and how well have they worked out? I'm about to need a new one.

I've always enjoyed backstories from the East: Caesar's Lands. My current character never experienced Caesar's reign, but he saw the chaos that came before it. I don't have much more than that.

My last backstory, and by far my favorite, was the lone survivor of a tribe destroyed by Caesar. I think it works exceptionally well. Tribals can have a personal reason to hate Caesar, but also an alienation from the Profligate work that can justify working with Caesar against it.

Or Gunners really. I'd be nice if they actually bother to do worldbuilding around these mercenaries if they're going to cram them into every game. Make them a regional power.

Dam. That makes me excited for FO4NV. But New Vegas already has a better building system than Fallout 4. Here's what I was able to make:

A mighty Khan fortress, securing the route north into Utah. Here we gather our strength and prepare for the migration to Whyoming.

There's several little caravan carts, but this one was my favorite. Loaded with furs, pottery, and other tribal artifacts, fresh from Zion.

This is the village. We've got some primitive aggriculture, mostly corn and peppers.

What's no so primitive is our artillery array. Seized from the Boomers at Nellis, these guns will ensure our safe passage, keeping the NCR and House's lackeys at bay.

This is the passage to the sacred lands of Zion.

And this is just my house. I spent too long making the bed so I want to show it off.

Evil/rude dialogue never yields any benefit. At most it locks out content. That makes it the least satisfying way to be evil.

Like, in New Vegas I'll slaughter entire tribes to avoid a tedious quest. I'll assassinate people I don't like. I'll steal from people if I don't respect them. But why would I choose rude dialogue? Where does that get me?

El Paso would be good. Right on the border of Legion territory and Mexico.

But I'd guess they'd go for San Antonio for a Texas game. Seems like the most iconic Texas city with the Alamo and all that.
