What would have happened if America was more than aware of vault-tec's intentions for vaults being turned into secret experiments all over the country

Should they be more than aware or not

I mean vault tec and their ideology is nothing but making people suffer and die for profits and it makes me sick to my stomach for them to be sadistic enough to make profits and they are made up their vaults as secret experiments

I am calling upon you to tell me your opinion on fallout 76 because I would say it is my favourite fallout game I don’t know why people hate it so much so I would like your opinion and your favourite fallout game

Out of all the Vault-Tec vaults from fallout, which vault would you want to live in?

Don´t get me wrong, I loved the series. But after seeing how much lore it meddles with got me thinking that there had to have been ways around this. So I've drawn up some alternatives that I may not have backed with enough of the pre-existing lore. I´ll try to make it as lore friendly as I can. Let´s get started.

First, I´d find an entirely different setting than California, but it´d still be close to Nevada so Hank wouldn't have to trek too far to reach New Vegas. I´d pick a place closer to the commonwealth or the capital wasteland, but we all know we want to see the mojave wasteland in live action. Also, it´d scrap the need for an explanation on why the Master didn´t bother with Vaults 31, 32, 33, and 4. In the reimagining, the Fallout Tv series would be taking place in the north part of Wyoming. That way, more ambiguity is left over whether the great khans or the white legs would ever settle down there. Additionally, the Prydwen will not make a cameo so as to leave more ambiguity over the fate of the commonwealth conflict.

Then comes the characters. Since Shady Sands is not destroyed, Maximus´ background will be different. He will still be an NCR citizen, just not one that lived in Shady Sands. Instead, he’ll be the son of a brahmin baron in Wyoming. But he’d be forced to leave when the Legion tore through his town, and he’d be hunted down by legionary recruits. Those recruits would be shot dead by Brotherhood paladins. Thus, cementing a long-term hatred for the NCR for a lack of protection.

The Ghoul would be in the early stages of turning feral, and there would be scenes that highlight this change. I don’t have much else planned for him, but we can agree that an anti-feral drug is kinda stupid.

In favor of breaking the tradition of family members leaving the vault to search for each other, Lucy and Hank will not be related. However, Norm will still be related to Hank. This is done so that there is a rivalry between Norm and Lucy to be considered for a future position as overseer. Lucy will try harder given that she’s not the daughter of Hank, and Norm will hardly try given his father’s status. That means when Lucy leaves the vault, she does so to prove herself to her fellow dwellers. And when Moldaver reveals Hank’s secrets, Lucy will be crushed by the fact that the man that inspired her conspired to bring about the apocalypse. Additionally, Norm would want to follow Lucy, but Rose (she’s alive in this reimagining) will keep him in the vault for fear of losing him to the wasteland as well.

Wilzig, instead of being an Enclave scientist would be a scribe for the West-coast Brotherhood who despises their hoarding of technology instead of using it to benefit others. So cold fusion is instead crafted in a BOS bunker, making Wilzig´s and Dogmeat´s eventual escape more complicated. Wilzig could make the laser turrets turn on the BOS members like in New Vegas. I make this change because it makes no sense for the Enclave to not send anyone after Wilzig despite their increased numbers and instead get the Brotherhood to do it. This way, the fight over cold fusion between the BOS and the NCR has more impact.

The company meeting that Barb and Bud hosted in the finale would be replaced by a meeting with what the Enclave was in pre-war times. The decision to nuke the world would make more sense given the Enclave’s beliefs and the resource wars. However, Mr. House would still get to make a cameo but it’d be a bit different. Frederick Sincliar wouldn’t get that botched cameo, it’s too inconsistent with who he was in the games. Anyways, in the reimagining, House would reach out to Cooper Howard and convince him to spy on his wife given her position with vault-tec. Once the wham line is pulled, he’ll hang up on Cooper and begin preparations for preserving Las Vegas.

Which leads us to New Vegas not being destroyed and the end credits not highlighting the devastation. Basically, I´m writing this because the lack of answers for the lore changes is screwing me big time. Maybe John Nolan and Bethesda have good reasons for these canon changes, maybe they don´t. And maybe this reimagining would appeal more to veteran fallout fans instead of newcomers, which could´ve limited it´s success. That´s my two cents.

Like how did they get ICBMs

This will definitely have been brought up before as a point but I thought it would be interesting to discuss here. So here it goes.

Vaults are a staple of the Fallout series. False promises of safety from nuclear annihilation turned into sinister and creepy social experiments. There's been so many notable ones and quite honestly makes for some of the best lore of Fallout.

One question about the experiments however.....why?

So here's the thing: Vault-Tec creates these experiments to test human beings in a wide variety of conditions whether psychologically, physiologically, emotionally, physically and mentally. But whats the real purpose? Some of these experiments seem so bizarre and random that they are almost a waste of precious resources which are vital in the post-apocalypse

Take Vault 118 and Vault 114 for example. Both were designed to test the ultra wealthy. One had an incompetent overseer and extremely cramped conditions, the other was meant to propograte a severe upper/lower class divide and most likely Instigate conflict between residents. One question, why? What is the point?

What use is the research for rich families living in cramped conditions? What psychological lesson are they trying to learn from it? It makes me ask what the general purpose of these experiments are considering we know about so many of them at this point.

The games from what we can tell have implied that Vault-Tec no longer exists after the war (many vaults wait for a signal from HQ and never receive it) and yet it is Post - War when most of these experiments take place. Vault 87 experimented with FEV. Useful stuff for sure, but to who? The company is gone. West-Tek was annihilated into oblivion. Who does the data from that very specific experiment benefit aside from the scientists in that one vault?

I've heard people say the experiment data is transmitted to the Enclave. Fair point but then that begs the question, why? What use is social experiments when your plan is the genocide of all mutated life in the wasteland? I would doubt it's repopulation when considering half of the overall population of pure human vault dwellers are most likely dead by the time FEV Curling does its job. I've heard I think in the Fallout Bible about a mission to colonise another planet. That certainly helps with some of the experiments but that information isn't fully canonical and doesn't answer some of the other ones.

Essentially the points I'm getting at are this. A) What is the overall purpose of the Vault Experiments? (We have control vaults, mind control, super soldiers, FEV, disease cute. But who recieves the data? Who benefits really from these experiments? )

B) What is the genuine point behind some of these experiments? (For example one man and a crate full of puppets. Or Vault 76 securing nukes for Vault-Tec, even though the company is defunct 25 years later?)

If Vault-Tec is still active somehow, like a secret control vault full of personel or the Enclave is confirmed to be recieving all the data then it makes more sense but as far as I can tell the games have never doubled down on that.

If there's a clear and direct answer about this I'd be more than happy to know it. I'm just confused about the Vault-Tec situation.

So we know there are only 122 Vaults in the entire series and yes while the number could be expanded in the future, let's instead go with the idea that Bethesda will stick to that number.

That poses the question, canonically how many vaults have not been explored yet? The Vault Numbers are all over the place and I am very curious to know roughly how many Vaults are left to be made into future content? My estimate would be around 30 but I would love to know for sure.

Also as an added point. Could someone explain to me the reasoning behind the sporadic numbering system of each Vault? Is it the order of construction or something to do with the location?

So, Vault-Tec. We’re all painfully aware of the social experiments they were committing on (mostly) innocent lives. Well, I for one was certainly not expecting them to put one of their crimes against humanity in their Nuka-World exhibit. Though, in retrospect, I guess a social experiment regarding mental manipulation is strangely fitting for a megacorpo theme park.

Out of all the vaults featured in the franchise, easily Vault 22 and Vault 87 are the scariest.

It doesn't matter where you live, or the vault's backstory*. It can be a vault of your choice.

*Don't worry, we all survive in this scenario. I know, a little non-canon, you think? In a nutshell, i'm just asking which vault number looks good on your back.

Call this choice bare or not, but I would choose to go towards Vault 111.

Obviously it's quite scandalous to set up a life preservation program for the purpose of human experimentation. Using people as lab rats, subjecting them to all kinds of situations and circumstances, some more humane, others barbaric. Vault-Tec is evil, no doubt... but, if you take their vaults as the only example, you only get that one answer. Remember, nuclear war bad, comparative safety of vault good. For all the bad, they managed to save hundreds, even thousands of lives. Obviously they wanted to make money, so they set up their vaults the way they did. For science qnd capital. But some vaults managed to remain operational for centuries, some even allowing wastelanders the chance to trade or find shelter. Obviously this wasn't the intention of Vault-Tec, but considering everything, my opinion of them is basically Chaotic Neutral. They had evil intentions, but this was a diamond in the rough. Anyone else agree or disagree?

Do you think Vault-Tech is still out there operating in some capacity? Knowing what we know about them and their plans for post war America, it would be reasonable to believe they built a personal vault somewhere only the very top of the company knew and had access too. Do you think they are conducting experiments on whatever population they are based in, or are they xenophobic and haven’t left the vault since the beginning?

Do you think that Vault-Tec was secretly run by the Enclave from the start or did they sense the potential of the company and take it over from the inside and pull the strings of the vaults pre-war?

Create your own Vault-Tec Vault experiment. It can be ethical, unethical, practical or nonsensical but can’t be a rehash of an existing vault.

This is my first actual post but I did comment on a few other posts before like the "Do you have a Geiger counter?" Post.

I got a new phone! And so I can actually send you the pictures of my Civil Defense kit if anyone is interested.

This kit is originally from 1961 but it had some use in the mid 1970’s.

Yes, I got my Geiger counters back from the shop and they still work after all these years! The one with the silver handle has or had a little uranium test source so you can check if the counter still works (😳)

And here’s the rest of the stuff! Not much else besides the Landsverk dosimeter. It’s a one use item to check if you have been irradiated but this one has not been used so that’s useful!

And that’s that. I always keep my promises and even though no one asked to see this, I thought it would be cool to show you lads something Fallout related.
