I know it's supposed to be over the top, absurd and was made just to look cool because it's a videogame, but is there any actual situation where a massive robot like that would have any application whatsoever?
In Metal Gear, the titular bipedal walkers were made to be the "perfect fusion of infantry and artillery", they act as mobile ICBM launch platforms that can walk through and launch from uneven terrain. But the Metal Gears aren't actually meant to be used on the frontlines like tanks, they're way too big of a target, the real benefit of using them is the fact that the nukes they launch can't be picked up by radars, so the opposing country wouldn't have the chance to retaliate.
Liberty prime seems more of a simbolic weapon than an actual one. Its nukes are too low-yield to destroy anything bigger than a small house, and it's way too stiff and sluggish to be a problem for enemy artillery, hell, even just a regular old tank could probably go for a mobility kill if it aimed for its exposed joints. Its armor seems resistant, I'll give it that, but it probably exceeds the weight limit of any road or bridge it steps on, he may be water-proof but breaking a bridge is a big headache for the infantry acompanying it.
TL;DR:
The only actual viable aplication I see for Prime would be as a big imposing bulwark that can tear down barriers or walls while also drawing a huge amount of enemy fire away from the infantry, no wonder the US scrapped his concept for power armor development, like 10 T-51's with Fat Men would probably be just as if not more effective.
