Mine was in New Vegas. I saw New Vegas from Goodsprings Cemetery. Now, I don’t know anything about Nevada. I don’t know the geography. Nothing. Except the stereotypical neon lights, but it was day. So I assumed it was another city and figured I’d head there to stock up on supplies. Well I headed towards it through Sloan. I didn’t know what a deathclaw was (it was my first Fallout game) and I missed Chomps Lewis' dialogue, so I marched onwards. As the young deathclaw rushed towards me, I quickly burned through almost all of very little ammunition I had killing it. I didn’t tag melee but I told myself I could probably make it with just a knife, a shovel, and a suppressed pistol stolen from Chet considering that the city didn’t look very far away. So I resumed walking only to see the quarry entrance. Since there was a dead guy with some decent loot nearby, I decided I might find more inside. So I walked in only to see a pair of actual adult deathclaws. I asked myself “what the fuck are those things?” only to be brutally torn and ripped apart within seconds. After that, I respawned in Goodsprings but this time I used the rocks on the south side of the entrance to gain an advantage. Well I fucked up and fell off only to be stomped on by the mother deathclaw. It was only on my second playthrough that I had the courage to fight deathclaws, and I won but only by using cheap tactics such as hiding on the draglines.
