Brotherhood of Steel (Fallout 3)

I’m planning on siding with Whitehill in America Rising 2, and I’m planning to be a double agent for Autumn (without nuking the citadel in Broken Spiel). The plan for the latter requires assassinating most of the Brotherhood, hoping the genetic purity tests were confined to Matthew Scott's outpost, and leaving a lot of things open to interpretation. I'd elaborate further, but that would drag this on. What I want to know before going in is if Autumn would be willing to work with the Pitt raiders along with the paradise falls slavers and if Whitehill would be willing to work with the Nuka-world raiders and the Gunners (depending on if they still practice slavery in ‘Initially Friendly Gunners’, and if that mod will ever be ported to consoles). Sure, it’d be a terrible PR play, but it’d be a great power play.

There might also be a chance that the Brotherhood tapped into the slaver business under Arthur’s reign to produce machines of war to bolster their strength. After all, it’s implied that the Capital Wasteland operators under a kind of dictatorship. They might even tap into the slave trade in the Commonwealth as well. Also, in regards to my poll about the Pitt, here’s my two cents. Wernher won’t get outside help because after Broken Spiel Sarah and Owyn Lyons bite the big one. Then the Brotherhood became too busy finding replacements.

And given how much the Brotherhood despises Owyn by the events of FO4, it’s likely that the Lone Wanderer wouldn’t receive support in the Pitt, given that Arthur might see them as a Lyons loyalists. So, the Pitt under Wernher’s helm will be doomed to be overrun by the Trogs he unleashed in uptown (smart move Wernher).

As for Ashur, he might be aware that he can’t dismantle slavery after he’s fueled it so much. However, he still wants to get out of the business. So he’ll make Krenshaw or the LW the new lord of the Pitt once a cure is made. Then he’ll go to some settlement he’d arranged for slavers not to touch(an agreement that will surely be void when he and the family bites it) and bring Marie and Sandra with him. And he’ll make sure Marie never knows the truth (see how long that lasts). I suspect this of Ashur because he never stated in his diary that Marie would live in the Pitt after a cure was created.

Question's in the title, did you think Elder Lyons, despite his altruistic style of leadership, was bad for the Brotherhood?

I want to join the Enclave in FO3 I have FO3 just haven't played it and I don't want to side with the BOS

Is it possible for a Fallout game to not have Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel.

Is there a way to finish Fallout 4’s story and still be able to take radiant quests for every faction after I destroyed the Institute?

If I get the Minutemen ending can I be a member of the Railroad AND the Brotherhood of Steel all at the same time? If so, can I join them whenever I feel like it?

And can it be done without killing Paladin Danse?

I just reviewed some older posts.

I think most people would call this the “secret ending” or the “all factions survive ending”

I specifically want to be able to do quests for all of them and let Danse live if possible.

Well, hello there! I hope this Post finds all of you in good health, and today I'd like to talk about my favorite Faction in Fallout: The Brotherhood of Steel, and I'll be covering the Fallout 4 take on them this time! Now with that being said, imminent bias incoming! Also a few spoilers, but I won't get into those for a little while. And this is by no means saying anyone has to disagree with me, I welcome free thought! The Brotherhood isn't for everyone, I understand that ^_^

So I guess I'll start with why I like the Brotherhood. So it really begins with Warhammer 40,000! The Space Marines are clad in Power Armor and the coolest weapons, and zealously kill all the enemies of Humanity. Does that ring any bells? If I squint and drink a few shots of bourbon I can see the Brotherhood of Steel fitting in perfectly as a Chapter of Space Marines!

But exactly who are the enemies of Humankind, you might be asking? Well at least in the setting of Fallout I perceive the enemies being: Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, Raiders, and the local wildlife! With Fallout 4's introduction of the Institute, I always see the Synths falling into the enemy category. Basically? Anyone who isn't us. The Wasteland is nothing less than a warzone, and I know who I want to win!

Now where we can find these enemies to Humanity is as simple as stepping outside the Vault for the first time! Immediately we see how hostile the area has become, coming face to face with irradiated insects and mole rats. It would be easy to see how important it is that the common people are protected against such threats! Which is where the Brotherhood comes in, time and time again.

When something goes wrong, it seems like the Brotherhood of Steel is always there on the forefront! Or at the very least they're a supporting group. From the first Fallout game all the way to 76, they've been with us nearly every step of the way. When things seem bad, they keep on fighting! Because 'Ad Victoriam' is more than just a motto, it's a way of life. It has to be, because the enemies are many and they will not show mercy.

So that's how I see the Brotherhood, they are soldiers at their core! Not Saints like the Minutemen, not callous Scientists like the Institute. Something in between, they are cold and hard while still being our protectors. And of course they can't do this alone! Like I said, there's a lot of dangerous things out there and resources are scarce. Even the mightiest army still needs to eat, and that's where donations from the Settlements (usually owned and protected by me under the Minutemen) comes in!

So where's the schism? I mostly see players against the discrimination they see in the Brotherhood. And if that was true, I'd agree! However I don't see the Brotherhood of Steel being rude...but prepared. Let's take a look at three enemies of theirs: Feral Ghouls, Super Mutants, and Synths.

1. Ghouls, even the non-feral ones, can always turn crazy. Now I don't know about you, but I couldn't trust sleeping in a bunk when the guy above may or may not want to eat me in the morning. That's just being careful not to like Ghouls, at least so long as they're the ticking time-bombs that they are!

2. Super Mutants, aside from limited interactions like Fawkes and Strong, are more likely to bash a human's head in for fun than chat. And even Strong wholly wants the destruction of our race, he doesn't keep it a secret! If anything was kill on sight, it'd be these guys. Is it capable for a Super Mutant to be good? Sure, but why take the chance?

3. Synths are created by the Institute, the main enemy of the Brotherhood in Fallout 4! Given that we don't fully understand them even to this day, not trusting them makes total sense to me. Who knows if they can be switched to go Terminator-mode? Or if they are rigged to explode randomly? Even after the Institute is taken care of there's just too many variables to consider!

Now onto another valid concern, the infamous Blind Betrayal quest! So be warned: spoilers ahead. I've already admitted that I like the Brotherhood, but a lot of that is due to their leader- Arthur Maxson! And the reasons I like him are simple: He's a man of his word.

I've already talked about why the enemies that the BoS target are potentially dangerous, though I welcome discussion on the matter! But if we accept that they can harm humanity, then Brotherhood's goal as soldiers is simple: Destroy them. We learn later on that Danse, possibly the closest living embodiment of the Brotherhood of Steel that I can think of, is a Synth.

He's a good soldier. He recruits many of us into the Brotherhood. He gives us a purpose to fight for. He's even in the inner-circle of Maxson himself! But he's still a Synth. And in war there can be no double standards. So with what I believe is a heavy heart, Maxson orders us to take care of it. Not because he or I want to, but because we must.

Admittedly you can spare Danse, and I always do. I talk Maxson out of the execution for one simple reason: I see Danse as a comrade. Synth or not, he risks his life time and time again to protect those under his command! So for this I think he has earned the right to live on, in exile, away from the Brotherhood. But for all the speeches and proclamations that Maxson does, he sticks to his guns. His enemies are Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, and Synths. And none, not even his friends, are spared.

So this is getting pretty long, and I apologize for that! I really do want to hear what others think! Are you Pro-Brotherhood, are you against them? This is a confusing thing for me.

What I want to know is the mod Danse Dilemma compatible with another mod called No Brotherhood Hostility for Danse?

I’ve looked at the mod description for Danse Dilemma, and it says under compatibility: “Obviously, this will clash with mods that after the same quests” Not sure what that means, but I can guess that (maybe I’m kinda answering my own question here) maybe it won’t be compatible. The no brotherhood hostility mod basically stops the Brotherhood from shooting at Danse and the player character after saving him during Blind Betrayal.

I don’t know. Hopefully my fellow Fallout fans here on Nukapedia can help.

I am nearing the point in fallout 4 where I choose a faction. having a hard time choosing between The Brotherhood or The Minutemen. any tips?

Rules:

• No Homefield advantages for either side

• No other factions intervening

• The other Brotherhood Chapters cannot help

• Both sides have end-game gear and levels

• Only army/military personnel can fight (No BoS Squires, NCR Citizens etc.)

(Kimball is the President of the NCR and Maxson is the Elder of the Brotherhood)

In my own opinion the BoS have this one covered, both sides will suffer heavy casualties however the East Coast Brotherhood have the ability to mass produce T-60 Power Armor and Liberty Prime (amongst other benefits like The Prydwen)

And while the NCR have Powerful Veteran Rangers, A massive recruiting population and a fair share of salvaged technology from the Enclave and the Mojave Brotherhood under Elijah. The fact that the East Coast Brotherhood can recruit outsiders and hand them some mass produced T-60 Power Armor and a Laser Rifle or even a Minigun or Gatling Laser with little expense gives them an edge in the fight.

Think of Helios One, The Mojave Brotherhood had the Tech advantage and were gunning down NCR Troopers with ease however there were too few of them and were completely overwhelmed by the NCR's forces however here the East Coast Brotherhood has the Tech advantage and while still not having the Population advantage they will still be able to challenge the NCR's population advantage especially that they have way more Men equipped with even better gear than the Mojave Chapter ever did (keep in mind the Mojave BoS severely damaged the NCR forces for a great deal of time with just that many soldiers)

Assuming that the good karma NCR ending is "canon," then would the Republic move east past the Colorado? I personally could see them taking former Legion territory and moving through to Montana, maybe splitting South towards Texas and New Mexico. I think they'd eventually reach Appalachia as well. I can see the Commonwealth and the Capitol Wasteland being a problem for any expeditionary force as, while the Minutemen might be open to cooperation with New California, I can see the East Coast Brotherhood being xenophobic and hostile, especially with Maxson as High Elder. But anyway, what does everyone else think?

If the brotherhoods job is to secure lethal pre war tech. Why the fuck are they allowing a live atomic bomb to be in the middle of a town, completely unguarded and just waiting to be taken by a powerful faction

Which brings me to the enclave. Why the hell didn't they waste the town. Take said bomb, and drop it on the citadel? Or blow up liberty prime? Or salvage it to make their own bombs?

The Brotherhood are the strong man of the wastes, they harness their sword against Super Mutants, Ghouls, the Institute, and the Enclave! However, are they the best for the Commonwealth wasteland?

Now we all know about the squires onboard the prydwen always saying BoS propaganda in my theory when the brotherhood raids farms they take the children to become soldiers in the BoS. When you speak to captain kells you get side quests to take the squires out to a location to experience battle this puts the child at risk of being killed and when the commonwealth finds out about this its going to make the brotherhood a threat to the commonwealth.

When i first heard danses voice he sounded like someone familiar and i knew it was buzz lightyear so i wonder “is their a cosmetic that makes danse like buzz?” Yes, yes there was.
