This was just the announcement of what they are going to talk about. They might still have a surprise up their sleeve. Or maybe they'll shadow drop a Fallout 3 remaster later like they did with Oblivion.

I agree with you. Fallout 76 has taken all the focus away from Bethesda's single player games from classics like Fallout 3 & Fallout NV. To the constant long hiatus without a successor to Fallout 4. It reminds me of the GTA situation with GTA Online halting any new title for a decade plus for the GTA series til GTA 6, that's what 76 has become a cash grab while the community as a whole is mostly ignored. Only difference is GTA Online turned a large profit whereas 76 unless you're a devoted fan who plays all the titles, love Online play or if you're just new to Fallout. You aren't gonna rush off to buy Fallout 76 when there's juggernauts like Fallout 3,NV & 4 to choose from.
