Fallout 2
Fallout 76 would have been perfect if it was offline with the ability to work with friends for the big bosses
The explanation you requested:
It’s not that 76 is a bad game, it just isn’t what most Fallout fans are looking for. We’re used to games we can play at our own pace, and pick up and put down whenever. Hell, the controller setup for 3/NV includes three different buttons that pause the action of the game. Four if there’s a targetable NPC near you.
My personal favorite is New Vegas because I love doing Unarmed builds and NV has all the coolest punching weapons
Fallout 76 is the only Fallout I played through so far. I had Fallout 3 on PS3 but it became quickly apparent I wasn't going to have fun with the movement speed, and so I chalked up FO3 and NV as being better experiences with mods. I'm tempted to get this copy of NV at a GameStop because it was more my approach to FO3 that was wrong, and while I think QoL mods would still give me a better experience, I think going in raw would be a more genuine experience of what the game has to offer. NV also just seems significantly more my style than FO3.
76 is almost a good lite MMO, they just keep dragging their feet adding half-assed versions of basic MMO features each update, like making the legendary crafting make sense as crafting and not just rolling stats faster than you can kill a boss. Basic feature, took like 2 years to drag their feet. They want play time, but I'm going to spend way more time playing the game if you would just let me make the builds I wanna make and not force me to log in every day for 3 months for a set of PA. The currency limits are toxic, like this is why I'm not playing, because you literally told me I'm done for the day and I'm just now getting into the grind. I like grinding in 76, the rate at which you can earn things is fine, it's just being cut off after 2 hours isn't sustainable gameplay and demoralizes me to the point I uninstalled the game for 2 years so maybe it would be more fun by the time I came back recently. It's looking okay so far, but it's not much different other than legendary crafting which is now a lot nicer, but it will take a lot of grinding to see that niceness in full effect. At least now I don't have to let scrip limits slow me down because I can just scrap legendaries and still make progress.
While I'll admit that New Vegas is objectively the better game in terms of story, world building etc. Fallout 4 is the game that I keep coming back to. I can spend hours tinkering at settlements or just wandering around the Commonwealth exploring, and every playthrough I still find some things that I've never noticed before.
Plus, if we want good stories, we also have mods for that in Fallout 4. Yes, New Vegas has the best *CANON* and *official* story... but I've seen mod storylines that just blew me away. even ones that improved Fallout 4's canon storyline by leaps and bounds.
There's so many talented modders out there that also have a talent for writing lore-friendly stuff.
My top ten story mods for Fallout 4 in no real order:
1. Tales from the Commonwealth
2. Fen's Sheriff Department.
3. Xander's Aid
4. Depravity by thuggy is pretty awesome. Not a sex mod despite what the name sounds like. XD. it's just so that you can interact with some raider factions outside of Nukaworld without having to shoot them up. And if you have the an alternate start mod, you can roleplay as an Ex-raider who's on the path to redemption and becoming a legendary hero with this story mod. or, you can just be a semi-evil person without having to commit acts that make you feel like you have to take a shower.
5. Outcasts and remnants
6. Fusion City
7. Subversion: The Institute-Railroad Alliance Alternate Ending.
8. Sim Settlements 2. Adds a ton of story content here!
9. The Bleachers - A Diamond City story.
10. America Rising: A Enclave story.
For me its fallout 76, it was officially my first fallout game, and was a very fun introduction to the game series
Fallout New Vegas was my first title (played it young at like 8-9).
Did I finished it? No.
How long did I travel before quitting?
Primm.
My SPECIAL was all at 6 and uh that’s pretty much it.
When the series came out I installed New Vegas and Fallout 4, totally got bored with Vegas and did Fallout 4 to then again Fallout New Vegas because I regretted uninstalling it.
Then I tried Fallout 76 and oh god how boring.
I dislike Fallout 4 settlements, and Fallout 76 whole deal is settlements.
No, I don’t want to build a community.
No, If I wanna build something like a Diddy theme park with some flying bathtub, I’ll use other games before Fallout.
Im supposed to be trying to survive in a wasteland and find the fuck that killed my wife, not placing water pumps or making a doll house like the Sims.
Fallout 76 is JUST that.
And I don’t like it. I don’t like building in Fallout.
I would if it was actually good, but it’s just plain awful to build anything in the CAMP or the bench whatever it was called in FO4.
Dont get me started on building the fucking thing for entering the institute.
See though, fallout 76 is very different now, there are daily quests and challenges, theres daily ops, there are the new raids, and also expeditions that you can do to progress your character, theres also challenges and bets me and my friends give each other and stuff like that
I mean the building is ass and they keep making it worse with frivolous restrictions beyond simple "has to be touching the ground in some way" which that restriction makes some sense for realism's sake, but like not letting me put railings down when it has a lock on spot to the floor is skill 100 spaghetti coding.
I do agree the building in 76 is terrible
What do you think?
