Just to note, the space explanation isn't canon. In the main timeline the Societal Preservation Program's goal was to provide research to the Enclave. That's all we know as fact.
Though Fallout 76 and the TV show established that Vault Tec intended to usurp the project for themselves.
The Enclave were going to literally destroy everyone that wasn't inoculated to their modified FEV strain, which would include other Enclave sects that they weren't in contact with. It's even worse in fallout 3 because Eden genuinely believed that the FEV wouldn't kill his people when that strain was proven to kill literally anyone with a HINT of radiation in them. Also doing a two attempted genocides is just stupid in general ignoring all of that.
^ not blind to that fact, I partially support the Enclave as a Joke because they are a joke. But mainly for Autumn as he is the lesser evil and was not on board with killing of all wastelanders.
To be clear I LOVE the Enclave, I still think they are pure evil and in real life I'd be discussed by them but they do have very fun esthetics from a roleplay sense. But realistically they are one of the stupidest and most evil factions in the Fallout series by design but I love them for that.
