How Many Vaults Are Left To Explore?

So we know there are only 122 Vaults in the entire series and yes while the number could be expanded in the future, let's instead go with the idea that Bethesda will stick to that number.

That poses the question, canonically how many vaults have not been explored yet? The Vault Numbers are all over the place and I am very curious to know roughly how many Vaults are left to be made into future content? My estimate would be around 30 but I would love to know for sure.

Also as an added point. Could someone explain to me the reasoning behind the sporadic numbering system of each Vault? Is it the order of construction or something to do with the location?

This article lists all Vaults we know about so far. Some of them aren't canon, like the Secret Vault from Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and the vaults from the canceled Van Buren, and some are only mentioned in supplementary texts like the Fallout Bible. So we don't know the exact number that are left to explore. What we do know is that of the 122 vaults, there were 17 control vaults, and 105 that had an experiment. As for the numbering, there doesn't really seem to be a pattern, the only noticeable thing is that the vaults with lower numbers are all on the west coast, and the higher numbers are on the east coast.

Heads up, the 122 number ain't considered canon. It comes from Avellone's Bible, which he stated isn't part of the main continuity. Pagliarulo says the writers dip into the Bible if they want to bring an idea into canon, but the number of Vaults isn't one of those details yet.

So, theoretically, an infinite amount of Vaults are left.

We have explored 31 vaults in the canon games. I counted actual vaults in the fully canon games Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, Fallout 76

I did not count products and vault like things (the ride in Nuka World, the exhibit in the Smithsonian, White Springs)

I did not count the non canon game fallout: Brotherhood of Steal or concepts like Van Buren or mentioned in canon or non canon sources (like the puppet vault)

The puppet vault is canon, there's a vault 77 jumpsuit in Fallout 3.
