One odd thing about Bethesda's writing is that it is not inherently bad. For example, Emil Pagliarulo, F3 and F4's lead designer and writer and the dev most often blamed for Fallout's decline, is actually a pretty good writer (he was the mind behind Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood questline). And you do have certain shining spots in recent Beth games of well-written parts; ones that immediately come to mind are 76's handling of Roger Maxson's character and Skyrim's various faction questlines. But overall the writers have begun to take this mindset that simple is better for whatever reason.

And yes, its not inherently bad, usually its just inconsistencies that make it "bad" or you know, forgetting stuff like food. I had lots of fun with the vampire cult, escaped android and Reilly's rangers just to name a few favorite quests.
