I said 1. just so it can be chronological in order. HOPEFULLY it doesnt come out like gta definitive edition
Yea @StoneGrave that definitely would make more sense, lol certainly hope it isn't as much as a bust
Don't see it happening and if it did it would be like 20 years away so I'm not holding my breath lol. That being said, I love Fallout 2. Fallout 1 is great and I'd like to see them both but if I had to choose one it'd be FO2.
After thinking a bit more. I'd say if Bethesda let Obsidian or another company do it, it is more possible to be within the next 10 years or so. But chances are it'd be a new game. Buuuut remakes and remasters are a huge money maker and Bethesda likes money so who knows.
Remaking FO: Tactics for PS5 would be feckin sweet!
A first person version of FO1 would be absolutely SPOTLESS! FO2 would be even better tho ngl
I asked something similar before. I think if these games were remade, they’d have to change a lot. I’m assuming when you say “remake” you mean you want them to create a 3D version of these games like 3, 4, or New Vegas. How do you do that though? I think it would have to be a complete reimagining/soft reboot from the ground up. With new scripts and new actors or at least new recordings of the original actors. There’d also have to be a point to it beyond just wanting to see those games in 3D.
Look at Lion King 2019. In trying to change the look of the original to make it look “better” and more modern by attempting a photorealistic look, they ended up losing all of the heart and joy and character that made the original such a shmultzy classic. It kind of made me feel a bit silly for buying into the original as much as I did, which I would assume wasn’t the intent of the creators.
What I’m saying is if all you do is make the game 3D, you risk losing something in the process you didn’t even realize you’d miss , and at worst it can make the original seem silly and dumb in the worst ways. I don’t know. I’d buy it, don’t get me wrong, and there’d probably be plenty to love, but I’m always afraid of people who do remakes not getting the points of the original and coming up with a farce. That’s just my own anxiety about these kinds of things.
As for an actual answer to your question, 1 or 2 or both as a double feature type thing. Of course as I said I think a major overhaul of either would be necessary. I’d prefer something different that captures the spirit and character of the original rather than a simple ghoulish 3D clone reject.
Also I’d rather them honestly just swallow their pride and dedicate a team to finishing some version of Van Buren as like a mobile game or something at the very least. In fact they could probably just straight up make decent mobile ports of the original two Fallouts as well. I know mobile games are the devil or whatever but I still think having good games for mobile, even ports, is a good idea.
I think it’d be better to redo them as mobile games, I think they could work best on that platform.
I agree with what others have said, about losing some of the goodness in changing things. I think that is a danger, the original Fallouts have a unique style of dark and satirical humor and storytelling that would be hard to translate to 3D. That’s why I think they’d be better off being made into mobile games in the same 2D isometric style.
I would like to see Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel perhaps redone as a DLC to some game. If we ever get a game in the South, or a successor to NV, I think FBOS could be recreated as a DLC to the game; could balance out the game if the base game doesn’t feature the BOS as much. The playable characters (with the probable exception of the Vault Dweller) could be made into companions, and perhaps the player could choose to side with Attis instead of the Brotherhood.
What do you think?
