The Brotherhood and House could not live in Peace. If they were strong enough they would attack House. Their ideology is too different. We see their potential in 4. We see their actions in The Mojave, they will confiscate folks only means of protection if it happens to be energy weapons. They are not good ppl. They are a threat. House ends the very real threat

There is good and bad to house. He wants to improve technology and aims high which is good, but he doesn't do much to help people individually. He doesn't oppress them and avoids violence when possible, but he could do more to help people and expand his scope beyond just Vegas and the strip. Plus like the NCR he continues part of the Pre War days, just in a different way. Yes he is different in some ways, but he still does business and promotes capitalism instead of moving beyond it.

He also has thrown people of their home to further his goals.

Not even saying it would be irrational to order you disable the base, kill the leadership. He could be justifiable and still order that. But he doesn’t. He orders you kill every man, woman and child in the chapter, with no chance of recovery and no opportunity to surrender. He’s a monster plain and simple.

It makes sense that House wants the Brotherhood destroyed, they are a potential threat to his regime and leaving any of them alive would give them the possibility to rebuild and become a very serious threat in the future. It's also in line with his character that he wants an efficient and merciless solution.

You guys aren’t hearing me, lol. He doesn’t want the brotherhood destroyed, he wants them genocided. Not exiled, not split, not most of them killed and a few reformed. He wants EVERY SINGLE PERSON in that chapter to die. It’s a genocide, plain and simple, mot removing a threat. So yes. I really don’t get the people who do mental gymnastics to justify a glorified genocidalist that refuses to respect any opinion or lime of thinking but his own just because he claims he can make spaceships.

And anyways, we are agreeing with him because not only A. They are a threat to his life personally, as well as to his entire plan of action, but also B. The Brotherhood are not good people at the best of times, and certainly not in the Mojave.

Flavors of morality, there. For every Veronica or McNamara they have, there's a Hardin or Elijah. And while House is certainly incentivized to protect himself, given the choice to decide what is best for the Mojave, the alliance between the NCR and the Mojave chapter is a far superior option to House, and in that case, House has to die.

I don't agree with House, that's why I usually kill him. But I can understand he wants the entire Mojave chapter dead in his own interest.

It’s semantics but genocide is wiping out a certain race. The “gene” part of “genocide”. The BOS is a militant group held together by ideology. If everyone that shares that ideology wants you dead, leaving any of them dead is a threat. So he doesn’t let any of them live. If one were to wipe out say, the Italian Mafia, that’s not genocide. You are not killing Italians because they are Italian. You are destroying an organization that is a threat to your society

Hmm... BoS are kind of a grey area. Genos can be translated to "race" but can also be translated to "people" or more specifically "group of people" and in terms of legal definitions it applies to ethnic, national, racial and religious groups. The Brotherhood of Steel is a religion of sorts, but not by any official or legal definition and for all intents and purposes can be described as a cult. Also, the fact that they're a martial cult further complicates matters.

On the one hand, claiming that one can commit genocide against the BoS is like claiming that outlawing the Ku Klux Klan is an act of religious persecution, on the other hand- without an honest analysis of the dynamics at play, it sets a dangerous precedent to dismiss such concerns. One cannot commit genocide against the BoS because they are not a marginal group, and if anything it's more often the BoS that are the ones committing genocide against marginal groups. The decision to engage in aggression against them is not one based on their religious beliefs or customs, but in nearly all cases is a retaliatory act after the BoS themselves committed acts of aggression.

In short- a simple no doesn't suffice. However a reasoned no does.
