Cass is a karma-holic. In my opinion, she is the most finicky companion in New Vegas. It annoys me, frankly, when she insists I be good. And next breath, she is boiling for revenge. According to Cass, stealing skill books is bad, massacre of Crimson Caravan boss is fine.

Edit: I have been in your situation re: Cass. I simply gave up on her. It's happened more than one playthrough that she didn't like my karma and went foul. Once I even dismissed her, and killed her. One option I can think of is: don't talk to her until you get your karma to 'good'. Before that, any dialog you have with her will lead to argument.

I do not know that this is a bug. Cass does not like raiding caravans, and she sounds upset that you hit them prior to meeting her. Is it triggerIng dialogue like you’re both out actively hitting caravans together or does she just refuse to join you?

She joins me but after you try speaking to her she outright hates you.

That is weird.

Still not sure if it’s a bug, since she’s reacting correctly to the Courier having done something she hates. Bug would imply she was meant to be forgiving or never notice the hits occurred, but it never correctly happens in game.

Instead, it might just be poor implementation on Obsidians part, where it would have made more sense to have her be too mad to be recruited, but instead...this happens. Where they intended for her to be mad, but had to be recruited to be able to tell you she’s mad. Which isn’t really any better than a bug, maybe worse since it’s not something that can be patched out as easily be a modder.

I cant even dismiss her as a companion entirely so I’m stuck with her since she’s my only companion.

I can open the companion wheel and access everything but thats about it, I cant talk to her at all.

Now that's sounding like a bug

Do you have the latest version of the game? You should be able to go to the companion terminal at the Gun Runners booth and dismiss her there. It's not going to make her a working companion, but it should remove her from your companion slot.

It's all good. Not always the easiest to tell if something is wonky by accident or design, but that terminal should help you out.
