The Fallout Citation Project is a project which seeks to ensure all Fallout lore is referenced. This project strives for removal of speculation primarily via correctly-sourced in-game references with additional non-game citation through game guides, developer commentary, and other non-game sources.

Scope[]

This project strives to have citations on nearly every article. Our wiki is seen by thousands of people, and even Bethesda is aware of our efforts and has used our wiki before. To this end, our information should be as accurate as possible so all who access it, whether for casual or project-related purposes, have a reliable, informative source that does not contribute to the spread of misinformation.

Reformation for a page will have 3 phases:

  • References Added - the page has been checked and/or completed by a project member and contains citations in all places required.
  • Reference Content Verified - all references have been checked for proper formatting as well as appropriate content and context, both in the reference itself and in the layout of the references section at the bottom of the page.
  • References Complete - all references have been checked for proper formatting and the page in it's entirety is well written. If not, the page will be placed into the {{clarify}} category.

These categories will be sorted by game, but are bound to grow long given the sheer number of pages the Fallout Wiki community has, so to see if a page has been completed, ctrl + F on this page to search for the name of an article to see if it has been completed yet and placed in it's appropriate section. This format may be subject to change as the the list grows.

Guidelines[]

  • All citing is to follow the citation style established on this reference formatting guideline page.
  • As a reminder, objects and visual interactions in game do not require citations, but can be referenced (and are greatly appreciated) if a proper source is available to do so.
  • In the event we lack a transcript of the source, a temporary transcript should be made as the footnote until a proper transcript can be made.
  • Citation overkill should be avoided and is considered unacceptable. References only need what is required in context of the claim.
  • For character dialogue, linking directly to the line number using # is not required, but it is appreciated.
  • If an article is linked to more than one game, keep it under the game it first appeared in.

Participants[]

To participate, simply add your name below using {{userlink|your user name}}. Place every participant on a new line.

Progress[]

To add your progress, place an asterisk *, the article link [[Article Name]] (in alphabetical order), then your signature including date ~~~~. If starting a new phase, move the article name and your updated signature to that section, do not keep both.
